OpenAI has launched GPT-4o mini, a smaller and more cost-efficient version of its flagship AI model. The new model is designed to be the most capable and cost-efficient small model available today, with plans to integrate image, video, and audio capabilities in the future. GPT-4o mini is set to replace GPT-3.5 in ChatGPT and is priced significantly lower, at 15 cents per million input tokens and 60 cents per million output tokens, making it 60% cheaper than GPT-3.5 Turbo. It scores 82% on the MMLU benchmark, surpassing other small models like Gemini 1.5 Flash and Claude 3 Haiku. The model supports a 128k token context window and is available for free and pro users today, with enterprise access next week.
