WADA Launches Independent Review, Calls for USADA Reforms
Sep 10, 2024, 05:03 AM
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has confirmed the launch of an independent compliance review of the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). WADA has called for comprehensive reforms in the US anti-doping system, emphasizing the need for 'root and branch' changes. The agency has voiced serious concerns regarding the protection of clean sport in the US, highlighting that 90% of American athletes compete outside the jurisdiction of the World Anti-Doping Code. In a letter addressed to Tobie Smith, chair of the USADA board of directors, WADA reiterated the necessity for USADA to implement tougher testing measures.
