Putin Reiterates Readiness for Ukraine Peace Talks, Open to Dialogue with Trump
Nov 6, 2024, 09:37 AM
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reiterated Russia's readiness to engage in peace negotiations with Ukraine. Putin claims that Russia was prepared for talks from the start of the invasion and had even agreed on a 'mutually acceptable treaty.' However, the Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, has not confirmed any current negotiations. Additionally, Putin has expressed his willingness to begin negotiations with US President-elect Donald Trump. Despite this, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has stated that Putin does not plan to congratulate Trump on his election victory, emphasizing that the US is currently seen as an 'unfriendly country' involved in the conflict against Russia. Peskov also noted that resolving the Ukrainian conflict cannot be achieved overnight and that the US is in a position to help facilitate an end to the conflict.
