Putin Praises 'Courageous' Trump, Offers Talks to End Ukraine War
Nov 7, 2024, 08:47 PM
Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump on his election victory, describing him as 'courageous' and 'a real man,' praising his response during a July assassination attempt. Putin expressed readiness to begin negotiations with the incoming administration, stating that Trump's proposals to restore relations and help bring the Ukrainian crisis to an end 'deserve attention.' He conveyed his congratulations through 'mutual friends' and indicated willingness to engage in discussions. Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed Russia's readiness for talks. Trump, in a telephone interview with NBC, mentioned that he has not yet spoken with Putin but anticipates they will talk soon. Reports suggest that Trump has accepted Putin's offer for a call to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.
