Biden Announces Final $500 Million Ukraine Aid Including Air Defense Missiles Before Trump Takes Office
Jan 9, 2025, 11:42 AM
The Biden administration has announced its final $500 million military aid package for Ukraine, according to U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The package, announced 11 days before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, includes air defense missiles, air-to-surface munitions, ammunition, and equipment to support F-16 fighter jets. This aid brings the total military assistance sent to Ukraine under the Biden administration to $66.5 billion, although it falls short of the $4 billion approved by Congress. The announcement coincided with a meeting of defense officials at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
