SpaceX Crew-9 Relocates Dragon Freedom on ISS to Prepare for Monday's Cargo Mission
Nov 3, 2024, 11:17 AM
On November 3, 2024, the four astronauts of SpaceX's Crew-9 mission aboard the International Space Station successfully relocated their Crew Dragon spacecraft, named Freedom, to a new docking port. At 6:35 a.m. EST, the spacecraft undocked from the Harmony module's forward port and, after a short maneuver, re-docked at the module's space-facing (zenith) port at 7:25 a.m. EST. The relocation was conducted to free up the forward docking port for an upcoming cargo resupply mission scheduled to launch on Monday evening. The Crew-9 team, consisting of Commander Nick Hague, NASA astronauts Barry "Butch" Wilmore and Sunita Williams, and cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov, managed the autonomous maneuver while aboard the spacecraft. Following re-docking, the crew performed routine leak checks and post-docking procedures. The operation was broadcast live by NASA and SpaceX.
