UK PM Keir Starmer Affirms Nuclear Commitment, Allows Ukraine to Use Storm Shadow Missiles on Military Targets in Russia
Jul 10, 2024, 07:25 AM
Keir Starmer, the newly appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has affirmed his commitment to nuclear weapons, describing it as 'absolute.' One of his first acts as Prime Minister includes writing 'letters of last resort' to Trident submarine commanders, instructing them on how to retaliate to a pre-emptive nuclear strike. Starmer, who was officially made Prime Minister on Friday, was given a pen and four pieces of paper to handwrite identical top-secret orders. Additionally, Starmer has signaled that Ukraine can use Britain's Storm Shadow missiles to strike military targets inside Russia, continuing the previous UK government's policy. This marks the first time Starmer has committed to this position, stating that it is up to Ukraine how it uses the Storm Shadow missiles. Starmer made this statement while answering a Bloomberg UK question on his way to Washington.
