IDF Confirms Two Hostages Mistakenly Killed by IDF Forces in Hamas Captivity
Jul 24, 2024, 08:09 PM
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the deaths of two Israeli hostages, Alex Dancyg, 76, and Yagev Buchshtav, 35, who were kidnapped by Hamas on October 7. The confirmation came after obtaining new intelligence information. The hostages were believed to have been held together in Khan Yunis, Gaza, and were mistakenly killed by IDF forces during battles in the area months ago. Their bodies are still being held by Hamas. Dancyg, a Holocaust historian and educator, would have celebrated his 76th birthday the day before the announcement. Buchshtav was a newlywed musician. The IDF has informed the families of the deceased and is investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
