Sangamo Regains Hemophilia A Gene Therapy Rights After Pfizer Ends Collaboration, Stock Falls 67%

Sangamo Therapeutics Inc. will regain full development and commercialization rights to its hemophilia A gene therapy program, giroctocogene fitelparvovec, following Pfizer Inc.'s decision to cease development of the treatment. The move comes after positive results from the Phase 3 AFFINE trial, which met its primary and secondary endpoints, demonstrating the potential of the therapy. Sangamo plans to explore all options to advance the program, including seeking a new collaboration partner. The termination of the collaboration with Pfizer, effective April 21, 2025, has led to a significant drop in Sangamo's stock price, falling as much as 67% in extended trading.
