Mike Waltz, Three-Term GOP Congressman, Wins Reelection as First Green Beret in U.S. House
Nov 12, 2024, 01:45 AM
Mike Waltz, a three-term GOP congressman from east-central Florida, was the first Green Beret elected to the U.S. House. He easily won reelection last week. Waltz has a distinguished military career with multiple tours in Afghanistan, the broader Middle East, and Africa over his 26 years in the US Army. He was first elected to Congress in 2018 to replace then-incoming Gov. Ron DeSantis. Waltz has expressed Trump-like views on funding for Ukraine’s defense against Russian attacks and voted against the Ukraine funding bill in April.
