Maryland Native Luigi Mangione to Waive Extradition to New York in CEO Murder Case
Dec 19, 2024, 12:09 PM
Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old Maryland native charged with murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, appeared in a Pennsylvania court on Thursday, escorted by a large police presence. He is expected to waive extradition to New York, potentially returning as soon as Thursday to face murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting of Thompson on December 4 outside a Midtown Manhattan hotel. Mangione could be eligible for the death penalty. Supporters of Mangione gathered outside the courthouse during his appearance. He is also facing related forgery and firearms charges in Pennsylvania.
