Sweden Supplies CB90s in Black Sea, Vintage Pbv 302 APCs to Ukraine
Oct 5, 2024, 10:55 PM
Sweden has supplied CB90 fast assault crafts and Pbv 302 armored personnel carriers (APCs) to Ukraine, bolstering Kyiv's military capabilities amid ongoing conflict. The CB90 crafts, known for their speed and maneuverability, have been observed operating in the Black Sea off the coast of Odesa, indicating active deployment in maritime operations. Sweden released video footage showing the Pbv 302 APCs being sent to Ukraine, confirming their transfer. These vehicles, vintage models from the 1960s that had been in storage since their decommissioning in the early 2000s, were previously considered obsolete by a Swedish Defence Ministry commission, which found that even mass replacement of transmissions and components would not suffice to modernize them. The APCs have been spotted en route in the Czech Republic, according to Czech analyst Jiří Kožený. Sweden had announced in June its intention to deliver the Pbv 302 vehicles, although the exact number remains unspecified. The deployment of these assets underscores Sweden's support for Ukraine and contributes to the enhancement of Ukraine's ground and naval capabilities.
