Astronomers Discover 0.8 Earth-Mass Planet Orbiting Barnard’s Star
Oct 1, 2024, 12:02 PM
Astronomers from the European Southern Observatory (ESO) have discovered a sub-Earth-mass planet orbiting Barnard’s star, one of the nearest stars to the Sun. The planet, which is approximately 0.8 times the mass of Earth, was confirmed using radial velocity measurements and astrometric data. This discovery marks a significant milestone as Barnard’s star is the closest single star to our solar system. The findings were published in the journal @AandA_journal.
