Erling Haaland Signs Nine-and-a-Half-Year Manchester City Deal, Becomes Premier League's Highest-Paid Player
Jan 17, 2025, 08:57 AM
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has signed a new nine-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 2034. The 24-year-old Norwegian has committed the majority of his career to the Premier League champions, in a deal that is among the most lucrative in sporting history. The new agreement, which removes all exit clauses from his previous contract, will reportedly see Haaland become the highest-paid player in Premier League history, earning over £500,000 per week. A release clause valid from 2029 is included but only at very high numbers. Haaland expressed his happiness in signing the new deal, stating, "I am really happy to have signed my new contract and to be able to look forward to spending even more time at this great club." Manchester City's Director of Football Txiki Begiristain commented, "Everyone at the club is absolutely delighted Erling has signed his new contract. The fact he's signed for so long demonstrates our commitment to him, and his love of this club. He's made an incredible impact here and his amazing numbers and records speak for themselves." By the time the contract ends, Haaland will be 33 years old.
