Erling Haaland Signs Record Contract with Manchester City Until 2034, Removing Exit Clauses
Jan 17, 2025, 10:17 AM
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has signed a new nine-and-a-half-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2034. The 24-year-old Norwegian forward's new deal removes all exit clauses from his previous agreement, which was set to expire in 2027, and is considered to be among the most lucrative contracts in sporting history. The contract includes a release clause valid from 2029 at very high amounts. Haaland is set to earn the highest ever salary at Manchester City and one of the highest in football history. Expressing his commitment, Haaland said, 'I'm really happy to have signed my new contract and to be able to look forward to spending even more time at this great club.' He also added, 'I'm home to stay.' Manchester City announced the extension on Friday, with manager Pep Guardiola describing the news as exceptional and stating that it shows Haaland's trust in the club. Since joining Manchester City in 2022, Haaland has scored 111 goals in 126 matches and helped the club secure six trophies.
