Sep 18, 2024, 08:14 AM
A team of British surgeons has successfully separated one-year-old conjoined twin girls, Minal and Mirha, during a 14-hour operation in Turkey. The twins, who were born in Pakistan and joined at the head, shared several vital blood vessels. The complex and nerve-wracking procedure was led by paediatric neurosurgeon Professor Owase Jeelani, who emphasized the extensive preparation required. The twins are now recovering in hospital and are expected to make full recoveries. This was a first-of-its kind surgery.
