NASA and Boeing's Starliner Calypso Successfully Deploys Airbags and Chutes During Descent to New Mexico
Sep 7, 2024, 03:57 AM
NASA and Boeing's Starliner spacecraft, also known as Calypso, successfully deployed all six airbags and main chutes during its descent. The spacecraft's heat shield jettison was confirmed, and nitrogen-filled airbags were deployed as it streaked through the night sky towards New Mexico. Communications were restored, and all systems were reported nominal. The event was captured live by NASA from the International Space Station and a WB-57 photo-recon jet. Sonic booms were reported around White Sands. The spacecraft began its entry interface and was also tracked from 6000 Ft Up by a Cessna chase plane.
