IDF Demolishes 3km Hamas Tunnel in Netzarim Corridor, Gaza
Aug 28, 2024, 11:39 AM
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have successfully demolished two Hamas tunnels in the central Gaza Strip. The first tunnel, located on the outskirts of Deir al-Balah, was approximately 700 meters long and was dismantled by the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit and the 603rd Combat Engineering unit. The second tunnel, measuring 3 kilometers, was situated in the Netzarim Corridor. This tunnel had previously been partially destroyed during Operation 'Protective Edge' in 2014 but was subsequently repaired by Hamas. The recent operation to dismantle the 3-kilometer tunnel involved the Yahalom unit and reservists from the Jerusalem Brigade. The IDF stated that Hamas had used humanitarian aid to rebuild the tunnel, which was intended for terrorist attacks.
