China Coast Guard Accused of Seizing Supplies Meant for Filipino Troops at BRP Sierra Madre
Jun 4, 2024, 09:06 AM
The China Coast Guard (CCG) has been accused of seizing and dumping overboard food and other supplies meant for Filipino troops stationed at the BRP Sierra Madre in the Second Thomas Shoal. On June 4, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) held a press briefing to address these incidents and refute claims by Chinese state media that Filipino soldiers pointed guns at CCG personnel. The AFP released a three-minute video showing Chinese personnel attempting to seize airdropped packages intended for Filipino soldiers. The AFP also reported that CCG obstructed a medical evacuation of ailing soldiers and ventured dangerously close to the BRP Sierra Madre. On June 2, Chinese state media posted footage claiming Filipino soldiers pointed guns at CCG personnel.
