VisitFrance's LNG Imports from Russia Hit Record Annual High with SEFE Deliveries to Dunkirk
Nov 18, 2024, 12:08 PM
France's imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia have surged to a record annual high, with the nation receiving more LNG from Moscow than in any full year since supplies began in 2018. This increase is facilitated by deliveries from Germany’s state-owned energy firm, SEFE, which has been offloading cargoes as part of a supply contract. The shipments are primarily directed to the Dunkirk terminal near the Belgian border. The European Union has increasingly relied on Russian LNG to replace lost pipeline gas, with France's Total having investments in Russian plants contributing to this trend.
