Telegram Achieves Profitability in 2024 with Over $1 Billion Revenue, 12 Million Subscribers, and $500 Million Cash
Dec 23, 2024, 01:44 PM
Telegram has achieved profitability for the first time in its history, with total revenue surpassing $1 billion in 2024, up from approximately $350 million in 2023. The platform, which launched its Premium subscription service in 2022, now boasts over 12 million subscribers. CEO Pavel Durov attributed this financial success to a significant increase in advertising revenue, which constitutes over 50% of the total revenue, as well as growth in subscriptions and cryptocurrency sales. Despite facing legal challenges and managing around $2 billion in debt, Telegram is closing the year with more than $500 million in cash. The company is also reportedly considering an initial public offering (IPO) in 2026.
