CAS Dismisses Canada's Appeal for Beijing 2022 Bronze in Valieva Doping Case
Aug 2, 2024, 01:47 PM
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed Canada's appeal to be upgraded to a bronze medal in the figure skating team event from the 2022 Beijing Olympics. The appeal followed the disqualification of Russian skater Kamila Valieva for doping. Despite the disqualification, the Russian team will retain the bronze medal. The Canadian Olympic Committee expressed disappointment, stating that under the International Skating Union’s rules, the points should have been reallocated following the doping sanction against Valieva.
