Four Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers were killed and six others wounded during combat in the northern Gaza Strip, specifically in the Beit Hanoun area, on the morning of January 11, 2025. The fallen soldiers were identified as Sgt. Maj. (res.) Alexander Fedorenko, 37, from Bat Yam, a truck driver in the 14th Armored Brigade's 79th Battalion; Staff Sgt. Danila Diakov, 21, from Maale Adumim, a fighter in the 931st Battalion of the Nahal Brigade; Sgt. Yahav Maayan, 19, from Modiin, a fighter in the 931st Battalion; and Sgt. Eliav Astuker, 19, from Ashdod, also a fighter in the 931st Battalion. The incident occurred when a powerful explosive device was detonated targeting a military convoy in Beit Hanoun, where the brigade had been operating for several weeks. The attack also injured five other soldiers, one seriously. The total number of IDF soldiers killed since the start of the ground operation in Gaza has now reached 400.
