Ukrainian Navy Hits Russian Gas Platforms Near Crimea on December 6
Dec 7, 2024, 07:44 AM
The Ukrainian Navy has conducted a significant operation targeting Russian-controlled gas platforms in the Black Sea near the coast of Crimea. Utilizing unmanned naval drones and FPV drones launched from these vessels, the operation destroyed Russian-installed surveillance systems on the platforms. The attack, carried out on December 6, marks an escalation in Ukraine's use of advanced unmanned systems, including kamikaze sea drones and FPV drones, as independent strike tools. Ukrainian Naval Forces Commander Vice-Admiral Oleksii Neizhpapa confirmed the destruction of the surveillance systems, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to target Russian assets in the region. The Russian Defense Ministry reported the destruction of six naval drones during the operation. This development highlights Ukraine's growing tactical capabilities in the maritime domain.
