Belarusian Political Prisoner Maria Kalesnikava Meets Father After 19 Months
Nov 12, 2024, 03:26 PM
Belarusian political prisoner Maria Kalesnikava has been allowed to meet with her father after more than 600 days of incommunicado detention. Kalesnikava, who has been in solitary confinement since the summer of 2021, was last seen by her family in December 2022. The recent meeting marks the first time in nearly 19 months that her family has had contact with her. Kalesnikava, known for her activism, has been held incommunicado since February 2023, raising concerns about her well-being. She reportedly cannot eat prison food after a severe health issue. The visit was confirmed by Belarusian activist Roman Protasevich on his Telegram channel.
