IDF Foils Hezbollah Plot to Launch DR-3 Missile with 300 kg Warhead from Civilian Home in Southern Lebanon
Sep 23, 2024, 06:02 AM
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently revealed that they thwarted an attempt by Hezbollah to launch a Russian-made DR-3 cruise missile at Israel. The missile, which contained a 300 kg warhead, was hidden inside a civilian home in southern Lebanon. IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari detailed that the missile was smuggled from Syria and was being prepared for launch by Hezbollah operatives. The IDF conducted a precision strike, neutralizing the missile and eliminating the terrorists involved in the targeted attack. The DR-3 missile is identified as a variant of the Tupolev Tu-143 drone, also called VR-3, and was packed with hundreds of kilograms of explosives. In response to the threat, the IDF also sent text messages and broadcasted urgent warnings over Lebanese radio, advising residents to stay away from buildings used by Hezbollah for military purposes.
