Rishabh Pant Becomes Most Expensive Player in IPL History at ₹27 Crore to Lucknow Super Giants
Nov 24, 2024, 11:59 AM
Rishabh Pant has made history by becoming the most expensive player ever in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. The wicketkeeper-batter was sold to the Lucknow Super Giants for a record-breaking ₹27 crore (approximately £2.54 million) during the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Saudi Arabia. This surpasses the previous record held by Shreyas Iyer, just minutes after his bid. Pant, who had a base price of ₹2 crore, was previously part of the Delhi Capitals. The Lucknow Super Giants outbid Delhi Capitals, who used their Right to Match card, to secure Pant's services. This marks the highest ever bid in the history of the tournament.
