Secret Service Agent Accidentally Shoots Himself in DC on Saturday Evening, Injury Non-Life-Threatening

A U.S. Secret Service agent accidentally shot himself on Saturday evening near 32nd and Fessenden Streets in Northwest Washington, D.C. The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m., around 7:45pm, and was the result of a negligent discharge while the agent was handling his service weapon. The agent suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to the hospital. No other injuries were reported. Lt. Paul Mayhair, Public Information Officer, stated that the U.S. Secret Service's Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating the incident.
