Thai Senator Seeks Probe into Prawit Wongsuwon for Striking Journalist
Aug 20, 2024, 02:29 PM
A Thai senator has formally requested a parliamentary investigation into Prawit Wongsuwon, a veteran politician and former army chief, after he allegedly struck a television reporter on the head. The incident occurred after the reporter, a senior journalist from Thai PBS, asked him a question. Senator Tewarit Maneechai, from the mass communication profession group, referenced Section 184 (4) of the Constitution, which prohibits Members of Parliament from engaging in acts of violence, as the basis for the investigation request.
