Austin and Police Association Reach Tentative 5-Year $218M Labor Agreement with 28% Raise
Sep 24, 2024, 04:49 PM
The City of Austin and the Austin Police Association (APA) have reached a tentative labor agreement after years of occasionally contentious negotiations. The $218-million deal would give Austin police officers a 28% raise over the next five years. The 5-year contract includes significant increases in officer pay and benefits, as well as additional police oversight and accountability. Cleo Petricek, co-founder of the Save Austin Now political action committee, expressed hope that the city council will unanimously pass the contract.
