Captain Tom's Daughter Kept £1.4m Book Proceeds, Demanded £150k Salary, Report Finds
Nov 21, 2024, 07:40 AM
A report by the UK's Charity Commission has found that Hannah Ingram-Moore, the daughter of the late pandemic fundraiser Captain Sir Tom Moore, and her husband Colin, significantly enriched themselves through their association with the Captain Tom Foundation. The inquiry revealed that they pocketed £1.5 million from the foundation, including £1.4 million from book deals that were expected to benefit the charity but were instead retained in a family company. The couple also demanded a £150,000 salary and built a spa complex in their garden, funded by charity-linked revenues. The Commission's chief executive, David Holdsworth, accused them of repeated misconduct and a pattern of behavior where they personally benefited from the charity's activities. The report also highlighted that their actions damaged public trust in charities.
