This 8-month low reflects the ongoing resilience of the US labor market amid relatively muted levels of job cuts. The four-week moving average of initial claims declined to 223,250 from the prior 226,500. Continuing jobless claims decreased to 1.844 million for the week ending December 21, 2024, from a revised 1.896 million previously, and below the forecasted 1.890 million.
