Nepal, India, and Bangladesh Sign Tripartite Power Agreement for 40 MW of Electricity
Oct 3, 2024, 04:29 PM
Nepal, India, and Bangladesh have signed a tripartite agreement in the power sector, enabling Nepal to export 40 MW of electricity to Bangladesh via India's grid. This marks Nepal's first sale of electricity to a third country and is seen as a significant step towards regional cooperation. The agreement, which has been under discussion since at least 1985, officially opens Nepal's electricity export route to Bangladesh and facilitates cross-border electricity trade.
