NASA's Curiosity Rover Discovers Pure Sulfur in 41st Sample Hole on Mars
Jul 18, 2024, 07:01 PM
NASA's Curiosity Rover, managed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), has made a groundbreaking discovery on Mars. While exploring the Gediz Vallis channel, a two-mile groove along Mount Sharp, likely formed by landslides and floods, the rover drilled its 41st sample hole and discovered rocks containing pure sulfur. This marks the first time elemental sulfur has been found on Mars. The discovery was made after the rover accidentally ran over a Martian rock, revealing yellow crystals inside. The scientific team is excited to investigate these unique geological features further.
