Ford to Invest $3 Billion in Canada for Super Duty F-Series Pickup Production by 2026

Ford Motor Company announced plans to pivot from electric vehicle (EV) production to heavy-duty truck manufacturing at its Oakville Assembly Complex in Ontario, Canada. The company will invest approximately $3 billion to expand production of its F-Series Super Duty pickups, including $2.3 billion to install assembly and integrated stamping operations at the Oakville facility. This move is expected to secure about 1,800 Canadian jobs at Oakville and 150 jobs at the Windsor Engine Complex. Production is set to begin in 2026, a year earlier than previously planned, and will add capacity of roughly 100,000 units annually. This shift is driven by surging demand for the Super Duty trucks and will also secure about 70 jobs and additional overtime at U.S. component plants. Unifor-represented employees at Oakville will return to work in 2026. The decision marks a significant change from Ford's earlier plans to convert the Oakville plant into an all-electric vehicle hub, driven by demand from Ford Pro customers.
