Costco Reports Mixed Q4 Results: EPS $5.29 Beats, Revenue $79.7B Falls Short

Costco Wholesale Corporation reported its Q4 2024 earnings, revealing a mixed performance. The company posted earnings per share (EPS) of $5.29, surpassing analysts' expectations of $5.08 and marking an 8.8% year-over-year increase. However, revenue fell short of estimates, coming in at $79.7 billion compared to the anticipated $79.97 billion. Net sales for the quarter were $78.2 billion, a 1.0% year-over-year increase. Membership fees totaled $1.51 billion, below the expected $1.6 billion. Despite the revenue miss, Costco's operating margin improved to 3.9%, exceeding the forecasted 3.7%. Net income was $2.35 billion, above the estimated $2.26 billion. Pretax profit was reported at $3.11 billion. Annual net sales grew by 5.0% to $249.6 billion. Following the earnings report, Costco's stock declined by 0.80% in after-hours trading and by 1.5% post-market.
