The U.S. State Department has authorized a potential Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case for Taiwan, approving the sale of spare parts and support for F-16 aircraft and Active Electronically Scanned Array radars. The estimated cost for this deal is $320 million, as confirmed by the Pentagon. Additionally, the overall arms sales to Taiwan, which includes $65 million for communications gear, brings the total to approximately $385 million. This approval comes just before Taiwan President Lai Ching-te embarks on a significant trip to the Pacific, highlighting ongoing U.S. support for Taiwan's defense capabilities in accordance with the Taiwan Relations Act and Six Assurances.
