President-elect Trump Appoints Former Senator and Fortune 500 CEO David Perdue as U.S. Ambassador to China

President-elect Donald Trump has announced via social media the appointment of former Georgia Senator David Perdue as the next United States Ambassador to China. Perdue, who served in the U.S. Senate from 2015 to 2021, was a member of the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committees. He brings a 40-year international business career, including roles as a Fortune 500 CEO and experience living in Singapore and Hong Kong. In a statement, Trump called Perdue "a loyal supporter and friend" and said he "will be instrumental in implementing my strategy to maintain peace in the region, and a productive working relationship with China’s leaders." Perdue accepted the appointment, stating he looks forward to working on Trump's strategy to shape U.S.-China relations and maintain peace in the region.
