Nicky Jam Withdraws Trump Endorsement Over Tony Hinchcliffe's Madison Square Garden Remarks
Oct 30, 2024, 07:10 PM
Reggaeton superstar Nicky Jam has withdrawn his endorsement of Donald Trump following disparaging remarks made about Puerto Rico at a Trump rally in Madison Square Garden. The comments, made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, referred to Puerto Rico as a 'floating island of garbage.' Nicky Jam, who had previously appeared on stage with Trump wearing a MAGA hat, announced his decision in an Instagram video to his 43.5 million followers. He also has 7.7 million followers on TikTok. The Puerto Rican/Dominican artist stated that he initially supported Trump because he believed he was better for the economy but could not tolerate disrespect towards Puerto Rico. Nicky Jam emphasized that Puerto Rico deserves respect and that he is stepping away from politics.
