IDF Implements New Location-Based Emergency Warning System Using Cell Broadcast Technology
Aug 4, 2024, 02:52 PM
Israel's Home Front Command has implemented a new warning system using cell broadcast technology, which will be activated during large-scale emergencies. This system will send location-based public warning messages directly to the cellphones of Israeli citizens. The IDF Home Front Command has completed trials and the system is now operational. The messages, which include defense instructions based on location and proximity, will be accompanied by a unique sound. This initiative is a complementary step to the existing Home Front Command app and is similar to the United States' Emergency Alert System. The system will be operational for the first time, a decade after its development.
