Craig Melvin to Join Savannah Guthrie as 'Today' Co-Anchor, Replacing Hoda Kotb in January 2025
Nov 14, 2024, 01:43 PM
Craig Melvin has been announced as the new co-anchor of NBC's 'Today' show, succeeding Hoda Kotb after her departure in January 2025. Melvin, a native of South Carolina who has been with NBC News for nearly 14 years, will join Savannah Guthrie in the co-anchor seat for the 7 and 8 a.m. hours starting in January. The announcement was made during the morning broadcast on November 14, 2024. Kotb, who has been with 'Today' for nearly two decades, announced in September that she would be leaving the show, with her final day set for January 10, 2025. Melvin was a leading contender for the role, having already co-anchored the 9 a.m. hour of 'Today.' During the announcement, colleague Al Roker expressed his support, saying, "I am so proud and so happy for you right now because you are so worthy of this. I almost don't have the words."
