Maricopa County Settles Lawsuit, Adds Republican House Candidate James Taylor to LD29 Ballot
May 28, 2024, 11:10 PM
Maricopa County has agreed to put James Taylor on the ballot as a Republican House candidate in Legislative District 29 (LD29), following a settlement of a lawsuit filed by the Maricopa GOP. This decision ensures that Republicans have candidates on the ballots for both House seats in LD29, eliminating the need for a write-in campaign. The county acknowledged that during the proofing process, a withdrawn candidate for the PV town council was mistakenly left on the ballot, necessitating a restart of the proofing and printing process. The Arizona Republican Party has responded positively to the settlement. Full statement from Maricopa County on the settlement is available. James Taylor will be on the Republican primary ballot for the House of Representatives race in LD29.
