Ukraine Reassigns Over 5,000 Air Force Technicians to Infantry Under Syrsky's Order
Jan 14, 2025, 03:41 PM
Reports have emerged of a crisis within the Ukrainian Air Force, with technicians and specialists being reassigned to infantry roles to address troop shortages on the front lines. Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezuhla and other sources have criticized the decision by Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky to transfer Air Force personnel to the Ground Forces. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed that certain categories of Air Force personnel, after preliminary training, are being deployed to reinforce ground units. However, the Air Force has clarified that no specialists from the Engineering Aviation Service, including those in critical roles such as air defense and mobile fire groups, will be transferred. This move comes as Ukraine faces a challenging situation at the front, with a significant shortage of infantry in many areas. Over 5,000 soldiers, including MiG-29 technicians, are affected by this reallocation.
