73-Year-Old Israeli Citizen Moti Maman Arrested Over Iranian Plot to Assassinate Netanyahu, Top Officials

Israeli security services have arrested an Israeli citizen, identified as 73-year-old Moti Maman, on suspicion of involvement in an Iranian-backed assassination plot targeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar. The suspect, a Jewish businessman, was allegedly recruited by Iran's intelligence services and had been smuggled into Iran twice for meetings with Iranian intelligence officers. The plot, which included plans to recruit assassins for use in targeting regime opponents in Europe and the U.S., was uncovered by the Shin Bet. The Israeli man was arrested in August and has been charged with planning to assassinate senior Israeli officials.
