Canada to Acquire Quebec Bridge from CN Rail, Invest $1 Billion in Restoration
May 15, 2024, 02:53 PM
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the Canadian government will acquire the Quebec Bridge from CN Rail. The federal government plans to spend $1 billion over the next 25 years to repair, repaint, and maintain the bridge, extending its lifespan for decades. Transport Minister Pablo Rodriguez and Public Services Minister Jean-Yves Duclos joined Trudeau for the announcement. The Quebec Bridge, which has linked communities and businesses on both sides of the St. Lawrence River for over 100 years, sees more than 30,000 vehicles cross it daily. This move aims to restore and protect the historic infrastructure for future generations.
