Trudeau Announces $1 Billion Investment for Québec Bridge Restoration After More Than 3 Decades
May 15, 2024, 01:44 PM
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the federal government will acquire the Québec Bridge from Canadian National Railway (CN) and invest $1 billion over the next 25 years for its restoration and protection. The bridge, which has linked communities and businesses on both sides of the St. Lawrence River for over 100 years, will undergo extensive repairs, repainting, and maintenance to extend its lifespan for decades. Trudeau was joined by Transport Minister Pablo Rodriguez and Public Services Minister Jean-Yves Duclos for the announcement in Quebec City. The bridge is being bought back more than 3 decades after it was sold to CN.
