Israeli Forces Withdraw from Swisah, Syria, After Clashes Injure Seven, Including Child
Dec 25, 2024, 09:49 AM
On December 25, 2024, Israeli forces advanced into the villages of Swisah and Al-Dawaya in the Quneitra countryside of southern Syria. The incursion led to protests by local residents opposing the Israeli military presence. Israeli troops reportedly fired upon the demonstrators, resulting in up to seven injuries, including a child. The Israeli forces also allegedly fired at a news crew from Al Jazeera Mubasher covering the events. According to local sources, the Israeli military intended to establish military positions in Swisah and expand the areas under its control. Residents claimed that Israeli forces threatened to repeat scenarios similar to Gaza and Lebanon if they resisted. Following the clashes, the Israeli troops withdrew from the villages. The incident underscores rising tensions along the Syrian-Israeli border.
