North Korea has accused the United States and South Korea of increasing espionage activities near the inter-Korean border. According to state media KCNA, North Korea's defense ministry claims that spy planes and ships have been used for these activities. In response, North Korea has vowed to take military action against what it describes as maritime border intrusions by South Korea. The supreme military leadership of North Korea has ordered the Korean People's Army (KPA) to take offensive actions, including tit-for-tat actions, to counter the perceived encroachments on its sovereignty.
