Violent Clashes Erupt at Adas Torah Synagogue Amid Pro-Hamas Protest
Jun 24, 2024, 06:05 AM
On Sunday, pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the Adas Torah synagogue in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood of Los Angeles, leading to violent clashes with police and pro-Israel counter-protesters. The protest was reportedly in response to a real estate event promoting properties in Israeli settlements. Protesters blocked the synagogue entrance, used chemical sprays, and assaulted journalists and individuals outside. A journalist, Cam Higby, was bear-sprayed by a masked extremist while protesters chanted 'intifada.' The violence, which included physical altercations and antisemitic chants, has been widely condemned by local and state officials. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom denounced the attacks, calling for increased police patrols and condemning the antisemitic violence.
