Trump Outraises Biden in May: $141M to $85M, Fueled by Post-Conviction Donations
Jun 21, 2024, 01:00 PM
In May, President Joe Biden's re-election campaign raised $85 million, bringing their total cash on hand to $212 million. However, former President Donald Trump's campaign significantly outpaced Biden, raising $141 million in the same month. This surge in donations for Trump followed his conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, which triggered a massive influx of contributions. Trump's campaign, along with the Republican National Committee and an allied super PAC, raised over $170 million in May, effectively closing the cash advantage previously held by Biden's campaign. This marks the second consecutive month that Trump has outraised Biden by more than $60 million, signaling a strong show of political force as both candidates prepare for their November rematch.
